I reached out to Donna Bittiker with South Dakota State University Extension and set up a meeting.
My goal for the meeting was to acquaint myself with her and get a feel for what South Dakota 4-H has to offer that differs from Minnesota 4-H. In addition, I also spoke with her about my aspirations to get into South Dakota 4-H as a Program Advisor. We discussed possible openings and she said that she would keep me in mind for future openings.
This meeting helped me step outside my comfort zone and meet with someone I did not know in order to make a connection that may be beneficial down the road.

Interim 4-H Program Coordinator
During the summer of 2017 I was hired as the Interim 4-H Program Coordinator in Yellow Medicine County, MN. I was employed from June through September.
While in this job I did a wide range of things from developing day camp curriculum to preparing youth for the county and state fair.
This opportunity allowed me the chance to be in a professional setting after having a few years of college classes and to see how I could take the knowledge I have learned and use it in the real world.
