"Creating Partnerships with Tribal Nations"
During the summer of 2017 I took an online training titled "Creating Partnerships with Tribal Nations". The goal of this training was to advance my knowledge of the differences in cultures.
The training helped teach me how to bridge the gap between tribal nations and 4-H. I was able to have access to a recorded version of this training to reference if I had questions.
This training also helped advance my knowledge of how different cultures have different social standards and that some things we do in our culture may have different results or meanings in other cultures.
During my time as Interim 4-H Program Coordinator I worked with the local Upper Sioux Tribal Nation to bring day camps into their community center for the youth.
I faced some difficulties with conflict of schedules and lack of communication between the head of activities and myself.
The take away for me was that I learned to have more precise communications and not just rely on what was set up before I stepped into the position.
